Mayor German Saraña Jr., of Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, said he has been actively and consistently implementing agriculture development programs in the locality.

Saraña said that he was challenged to seek a higher position in the provincial government in order to help the agriculture program of the province. He said there are a lot of avenues to further develop the agriculture sector of the province.

Negros Oriental still has a lot of idle areas that can be plowed and developed for marketable agriculture products like coffee production, demands of which is higher, he said.

Saraña said he is a strong supporter and endorser of organic farming both in land and fishery development. Saraña is the chairman of the Negrod Oriental Advisory Council on Climate Change and adviser of the Integrated Water Resources Management Council.
