Lake Balanan, under its own management arm, the Balanan Lake
Development Authority, has reported earning a gross revenue of P2.2 million
since the start of its operation in May 2008.
The income, according to Provincial Information Officer Adrian Sedillo, “ is more than enough to pay the salary of workers under BLDA in the hotel, restaurant and the province’s rescue team.” With this development, the government is encouraging local government units in the province to be aggressive in developing and enhancing their own areas with potential for tourism by putting up facilities and amenities. Sedillo said the governor is willing to extend financial assistance to LGUs who are developing their areas for tourism purposes. The provincial government has in the past, extended financial support to LGUs such as Dauin with over P3M poured in for the development of the Baslay Twin hotspring, particularly the construction of dipping pools. Another LGU that received financial assistance from the provincial government for its tourism development efforts are Bindoy town with about P4M from the province for Mantalip Reef and Tanjay City with more than P2 million to complete the construction of a boardwalk and other amenities at White Sand Beach in Brgy. Luka, said Sedillo. |
