City To Join Wastewater Conference Print

Dumaguete City Mayor Augustin Perdices will represent the Philippines in an international conference to tackle initiatives in the disposal of waste water and other wastes in Japan on Feb. 10 – 11.

Perdices will present the waste water and septage facility in Barangay Camanjac, in Dumaguete which is now nearing completion. Manager Esperatu Dicen of the Dumaguete City Water District was also invited to the event.

The waste water facility project is the first of its kind in the country where a government undertaking is joined by a non-government organization. It costs P25 million, and a half of the amount was shouldered by the DCWD with technical support from the United States Agency for International Development. Perdices said he hopes USAID will not only extend technical support but also provide the dislodging trucks for the project. He added that the Camanjac  septage facility will be used as an example during the conference. He also said the city has conducted the bidding for two dislodging truck.
