The Negros Oriental Agriculture Office is propagating
seedlings of Pitaya, commonly known as dragon fruit, provincial agriculturist
Gregorio Paltinca said.
Mayor German Saraña Jr., of Bayawan City, Negros Oriental,
said he has been actively and consistently implementing agriculture development
programs in the locality.
The
Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources office is expanding seaweed farming
in all coastal barangays in Negros Oriental, Provincial Fishery officer
Leonardo Aro said.
Rice and corn production in Negros Oriental remains stable
and reports that other areas in the country have been affected by the supposed
dry spell, Provincial agriculturist Gregorio Paltinca said.
Additional funds worth P140, 838 have been allocated for the
expansion of the mangrove reforestation and rehabilitation project in Manjuyod
town this year. The mangrove reforestation project will cover coastal barangays
of the town.
